Adventures from the other side of the world

While my blogger counterpart was off on her rendezvous, I was running off to the other side of the world falling in love with the delightfulness of Hong Kong. My days ranged from trying all of HK's treats, exploring the malls, and spending all my currencies at the city's most distinguished arcade. I even won an alpaca friend for Y.

Even though I was having such a wonderful time, it feels so great to finally be back. Perhaps it's the Eastern heat waves and the small apartments that I cannot tolerate but the nooks and crannies of NY were calling me to come home.

Y, next time I go back I'll be sure to pack you in my suitcase. You will definitely fit.

Rendezvous With My Love Pt II

I felt this deserved a separate post of its own. Patiently maneuvering myself through a horde of awestruck tourists, I got all starry-eyed when I saw the one and only "Starry Night" by Van Gogh, his magnum opus, his hailed masterpiece.  In front of me. So unexpected, almost touchable. It was an artgasm moment.

I love living in the epicenter of art and glory. I'm even willing to forgive the freakishly large rat colonies in our subway system. And somehow, the day always ends with macarons. Of course, I got lost along the way and it inevitably becomes a LOTR-worthy quest to obtain them, which in the end made my day even more fun and enjoyable and all around pretty spiffy. Perhaps this calls for a second date.

Rendezvous With My Love

The first Thursday of summer; warm morning, breezeless air. Wake up, shower, look fabulous, hop on the first train into the heart of the city.  Quiet intrigue, growing anticipation, a long awaited date. After a week of goodbyes and hellos and goodbyes, I owed myself a day of unbridled whimsy and free-spirited indulgence. A day to decompress with my first love.

Allow me to save yourself a trip to the MoMA, though I don't know why you would deprive yourself of such an experience anyway.

For A, who cannot accompany me running around the city streets until nightfall because you're a million miles away on a different continent.
